Please Explain

About 2 weeks ago we had one of those typical early March days in New England. We hadn't had a snowfall in a while and most of the snow that we had was almost melted - except for the huge piles in parking lots. The weather was balmy - in the 50s.

However, what was added to that mix was the wind. They were reporting gusts of up to 40 mph. If it wasn't nailed down, it was blowing around. Sand and leaves were swirling and occasionally I'd see a deck chair that hadn't been put away, bobbing around someone's yard. It was a "hold-on-to-your-hat" kind of day. In fact, it was best NOT to even wear a hat. Chicago would have been jealous.

So the scene is set - it's WINDY. I'm driving home from work on my usual route and I drive by an assisted living home. It's not unusual to see a few men or women outside enjoying some fresh air. But, what do I see while driving by that day, but a lawn maintenance guy out in the front yard of his place attempting to use a leaf blower! Yes, he was valiantly trying to blow the leaves - somewhere.

I almost ran off the road.
